JSON Formatter

Paste messy JSON and get clean, readable output. Choose 2 spaces, 4 spaces, or tabs, optionally sort object keys, and see exactly where a syntax error is, with line and column, when the input does not parse. Everything runs in your browser.

Frequently asked questions

Is my JSON uploaded?

No. Formatting runs in your browser tab and the input is never sent anywhere.

What does sorting keys do?

It orders object keys alphabetically at every level. Array order is never changed, because array order is meaningful in JSON.
